Went in to the repair shop to get a hernia fixed. The Doc says no working no lifting no nothing for 4 to 6 weeks or you'll be right back here for the second slice & chop. Now that the weather is getting nice,  I can't get some of the orange out of the barn to play. I'll be off work till april. Looks like some of the projects will be put on hold.

Here's an old pic of what's waiting in the barn.

All I can say is Patience is a virtue...coming from the clergy that probably sounds normal... You'll be glad you waited, or curse yourself if you do something you shouldn't. :)

Heal quick and take it easy.

Sun was out early here, looked warn,  but kinda cold for an old man. Went out to the shop and thought I would do some welding. Did a shivvvver and came back in the house.

Been there done that,  take it easy just like the Dr. said.   The 37 WC has been sitting in 2ft of snow all winter.  Thought I had better move it to higher ground since rain is coming tonight.  Took the tarp off, put the battery in, fired right off. spun some, but crawled  right through to the drive.  Can't beat  those old AC engines.

Bill, That should be a walk in the park. I spent 6 months on mine and thought I would go nuts. OK, so maybe I already was and still am, but you get the picture. Take it easy and relax. When you do get out, maybe there will be some warmth in that sun. Take care. God Bless.

I put mine off until the doc started telling me what to do if my innerds pop out.  As I recall, it was almost a year before I was forgetting about that little twinge down there.

LOL I stil remember turning the wife loose on the Z turn mower.  she did pretty good, got the neighbor's property marker, half of a cedar tree and I forgot what else.

It will all work out.

Bill,

Once you are on your feet, all you got to do is go around and visit and BS while your Allis buddies work in their shops. Take the time to enjoy the "supervisor" role, 'cause you got a doctors excuse!

Bill, 4 to 6 weeks will fly by. When I had a heart attack it was 3 months and when I broke my back I was off for 8 months, 3 months of that in a back brace sitting in the house (thank god it was winter) Glenn has a good idea for a change, try that, Good Luck & a quick recovery to you...Harvey

Whatever you do don't sneeze for the first week.  Ask me how I know.

Had a double fixed 2-3 years ago.  After the first week it was easy.  Took three weeks off work but could have went back after two.  Boy did I have fun on that third week, got a bunch of stuff done at the farm.  Just don't tell the boss.

Hi Bill, I feel your pain. I had that done 2 years ago and somehow successfully healed. Last year I had a 2 foot section taken from my colon. Surgery occurred in about the same area as the hernia. I sure hope I am done being cut in those few square inches! The time will pass quickly as long as you keep mentally active. Walking is great so you can spend all the time you want in the shed as long as you don't lift much. You'll be ready to go in a few weeks. Dana

Bill, I hear you. Had mine done about 25 years ago. Follow the doc's orders. I only cheated a little and came through OK. I was building an 18' cedar strip canoe so the five pound limit didn't stop me from gluing and stapling cedar strips. Good luck and take time to reread all the Old Allis News you have. Yep, been there. I had one of the cushions from the couch that I would squeeze really hard in a certain way when I coughed or sneezed. Made things a little more bearable. Only felt like I was gonna pass out for the first three days when it happenned. Gradually got better after that. I had it done on a Friday. I was so stir crazy by Sunday I couldn't stand it anymore. Plus, my wife wouldn't leave me alone. So I went in to work on Monday. Luckily, I had a control cabinet to rewire, and could sit there on a stool and do everything with no bending or lifting.
Follow the docs advice on lifting. You won't be sorry.
Are they going to reinforce yours with teflon? That's what they put in mine. Seems to have helped.
