Putting a CA engine back together, wondering which way the wrist pin lock bolt faces and the torque on this bolt? Any information will be appreciated.

connecting rod bearing (crank end) is thicker on one side than the other... the rod is offset from the bearing.. rods 1 and 3 have the thick side of bearing toward the back- flywheel end... rods 2 and 4 have the thick rod side facing the front- fan end. Rod cap bolts are 25 ft pounds... dont know that i ever read what the pin clamp bolt torque was. I just put them in "tight". ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Here is what my Manual says
Assembly
The con rod is offset and the piston bosses are of equal length. To assemble connecting rod to piston, centralize the rod between the piston bosses and the pin in the piston and clamp securely. To assemble the piston and rod to the engine, the long offset side of rod must be turned away from the nearest main bearing.
That all it says and then goes on about rings, bearings, shims ect

 If you look at the wrist pin in the picture you can see the same amount showing on both sides of the rod. You will only see wrist pin on one side of the rod if they are in backwards. Nothing beats using your eyes and watching what your are doing when assembling an engine or anything. 35 to 40 foot pound would be all you would need. If over tightened they can cause the rod to fail. I don't use a torque wrench on those bolts. Just one hand tight with a 1/2 ratchet which would be very close to the above. |

| Thanks guys it finally soaked in. I was missing the rod offset. Hate to say how many times I've read the book. I rebuilt a B few years ago just can't remember anymore, thanks again. |
