Hi all. I just put a seal kit in the carb on my 917, which still has the original kt17 in it. It was leaking gas and that problem is now solved, but now it sits overnight and the right cylinder fills with gas to the point that it won't turn over. Its just that cylinder because the intake manifold runs downhill on that side. The kit came with a new float valve and seat and I replaced them and made sure the float wasn't sticking so I'm out of ideas. I just want to get it fixed so I don't have to constantly change oil in it from the gas leaking down. Hope someone has run into this before.

Sounds like fuel pressure (weight) from the tank is lifting the needle off its seat ever so slightly, and letting fuel creep on by the seat. A good idea for that (if the Tractor doesn't have one) would be to install a inline shut off valve between the tank and the carb. This way, the weight of the fuel above the carb and taken off with the valve shut. This will keep the fuel from creeping past the seat. Also, another idea you could try is lowering the float a little more than normal to keep the needle seated a little snugger in the seat.

sounds to me like you need to boil your float and see were it is leaking also if it has a nozzle if the seat on it is lower than the float bowl leval then it will leak around that seat you can usally polish it up with a tiny screwdriver and a tiny piece of steel wool
