Im looking for a four or six row allis planter in Michigan, northern indiana or northern Ohio. It can be air or conventional as long as its in decent condition. Also how hard is it to get plates and parts for these old plantes... id like 2 b able 2 plant soy beans with it also 2 save on having 2 buy a drill. thanks.

the plastic planter plates originally desighned for JD planters are readily available thru lustran here in lincoln ne. they also make the adapters that you need for the AC planters to run them. i still use my AC planters, as they have been more acurate than the JD,IH, & Kinze, and buffalo planters i have owned in the past.

take a long hard look at the Deutz Allis 385 planters. 4 and 6 rows can be purchased cheap and in most cases for the same price as 12 row units depending on the 12 rows' frame condition. The quadra disc row units cant be beat and i run 2 12 row units for our own ground as well as custom planting corn and beans. These planter will out perform new JD and Kinze planters and the new Case IH planters are the only ones that can give them a run for their money as far as picket fence corn stands. I know alot of guys on here fuss about DA green but they do their job.

parts are all readily available through agco dealers, between our 2 12 rows we replace on average one of the electric blower fans a year($85 +/-), also our planters like R5(medium round) seeds , the only thing we are careful with is to not plant in misty conditions trying to beat a rain bc the fans that blow air to the units suck up that moisture and then the seed discs need wiped clean bc they then pic up the fines in the bottom of the seed boxs as they rotate... no $ damages just takes time to clean, as far as any of the quadra discs or blowers- they are just as easily ordered through any aftermarket catalogs but like anything else the best maintained machine never breaks till after the catalogs shut their phones off and the dealer is working late. go straight to a 12 row and get done planting 3x's quicker than a 4 row bc the prices are pretty darn close
