I was thinking of some of the forum members that we have lost, that have been instrumental in making this forum what it is. I was just wondering if there was any way that Darrin could make a memorial section to help remember those that we have lost on this forum. With the loss of Barbara, we need to let new members know what special people we have lost that carved this forum to what it is today. Does anyone else feel this way? Dave.

Dave, I had a idea about the same, but you beat me to it! I have been around the fire service for 30+ years, and it is tradition to do "THE LAST CALL", for the fallen member.
Just don't know how to put it in words!

I will communicate with Darin and see what we can do. Opens up a lot of possibilities, and some of them could lead to some very hurt feelings. We need to think it thorugh really carefully first.

I understand and share the loss but the idea to place one person here above the others is not fair. I think that we all are important and if the memorial is set up it has to contain the names of anyone on the forum. Just my opinion. On the other hand the people mentioned will be missed.

May I suggest that if this is doable, and Darin is agreeable, that we shoulder the financial burden, rather that Darin

Our tractor club has a plaque to honer the members that have past,I like the idea if it is possible .I have been coming on this site almost as long as it has been around and it would be nice have an area that lets them know that this family remembers and appreciates they input over the years

While Barb's loss is significant and obviously felt by many, given the outpouring of posts, Darin and I feel that something like this would need more thought. The idea is not closed, but we really need to think of implications of the process.
I moved Tony's post to an announcement because I wanted to make sure Tony's post was seen by many. And until I get instruction from Darin, I will continue to do so to honor those we have lost. That post will stay as an announcement for 1 week, unless the group feels a longer time is necessary.

There was talk on the old board to do something when Rich passed. If at all possible it seems like a wonderful way to honor those who are no longer with us. I would be quite willing to help financially. Darin has done so much for us, although I'm sure he enjoys the comments, information, jokes, etc. as much as the rest of us. Directly supporting this site besides purchasing from him would be an extra bonus.

Darin and moderator... I too like the idea, but agree it will definitely need thought and planning. As to the point of how long to leave in the announcements section, I would suggest that it be there until posts are no longer updated, AND until after Tony has had time to get through this difficult time and to have the opportunity to read all of these words of love and support to him and about Barb. He needs to be able to see it before it falls below the radar screen.
I agree, it does feel a bit empty. I still miss Rich Davis. I'll admit it hurt inside when both of these fine people have left us. That's one of the things that makes this site so great, is the family feel it has.
