maintaining position. It goes back to idle position if not held externally. I finished my job earlier this week by placing a "stick" between lever and housing (very professional, eh?). I looked in the service manual to see what the inside looks like. Just trying to get a jump on things while too cold to work outside (+8*F this AM), what usually fails inside these things? I'm hoping its just a broken spring.

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Two different designs were used on throttle control , both using a friction device to hold position . One is thin pancake appearance and later is thicker unit with a bolt showing on the one edge . ( tighten the bolt some ot increase friction. )
