how do you replace brakes on a 45 ,? do they all come out the top? my parts book doesnt show it very well ------------- Cowboy UP |

OK,,that's what I have in documentation on this,,,and the guy's are right!
If you CAN get the lower pins out,,,the rest ain't too bad,,,
If you have to replace the brake drums,then the second and third paige will apply, you'll have to pull the final drive axle to get the drum off! ------------- www.allischalmersmuseum.com |

are those anchor pins, on bottom of diff housing sticking out about 1/2 inch? im sur they are solid, probly easier to pull final drives and then the diff housing?? ------------- Cowboy UP |

YEP!,,that's them,,and the're a BI*#@ to get out usually,,I've heard every now and then you'll find some that'll come right out,,,I'm not so lucky on my WD..

| Good luck on the pins. I was one of the lucky ones. Mine came out pretty easy, the left side. The right side took a little time, cussing, and elbow grease. Came out after about 2 hours worth of trying. Let us know how you did. |

| Blee, I think I know what your thinking and to get the final drives off you must remove the shoes, which means you must remove the pins !! Before you go to bed , go out and spray with your favorite loose juice and again repeatadly til you get the hot wrench out, The last ones I did took a day and most of that was getting the pins out. | BLee Gary Agramson sells a puller for those pins, sometimes it works, I have cut pieces out of the pin threw mouse access hole then drive pin in and cut anoyher 1/2 in off. Best to do this outside as 50 yrs of mouse nests will create lots of smoke. If you can do this job you can fix anything else on the tractor. Good feeling when doon. HTH Mark L |

You guys wont beleive this, but the pins pulled right out like theyd been put in yesterday, i cant believe it myself, as the rest of tractor dissaembly was tough, thanx for all your guys advice ------------- Cowboy UP |

| I soaked the pins for a month and then hooked a crow bar on the lip of the pin and they pulled out. Also I have heard of people welding nuts and twisting them out or prying them out that way. |

I was just messin' with mine last summer after Dale's OPOP show just to see if I could get mine to move,,,,,,,,MAN are they in there tight!
I squirted some stuff on them, but I never did mess with them any more,,but eventually I will,,,,
I've been told by some to clean the rear end casting holes real good and clean the pins up and "Neverseize" the holes and the pins before assembly. ------------- www.allischalmersmuseum.com |
