I'm kind of-sort of thinking about buying a 9650 Agco allis that's on a local lot for sale to replace our 8050 AC that burned up. Wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with this particular model. It's got the deutz air cooled diesel, and I think it's a good engine and shouldn't need any work, but if it does need work, it gets pretty spendy. Anything to that statement? It's got 4000 hrs. on it, front wheel assist, 18 spd. power shift, tires are very good, has an ezee on loader in nice shape. One concern living up here where it gets cold is that they say the heaters aren't the best, anything to that? Also, what do the air cooled diesels use for an engine block heater, cause obviously they have no water in the block for a soft plug heater. It is important that it starts for me at -20. I would appreciate anyone's input on them, good, bad, or indifferent. Also wondering what they have for a hydraulic system; do they have a modern pfc system, or an old open center system like the green Deutz's had. Thanks in advance for any and all info. Overall, it's a very good looking, clean tractor. Any price range ideas? Thanks again, Darrel

well at least it is orange .. is it on a lot as a private sale or is it a trade in ? i have got burned so many times on used ....grrrrrrrr.. be nice if someone would stand behind it ..and if it dont live up to their bragging .. have em stand in front .. after you have some huge issues .. on de udder hand you may get lucky

Negative is that you'll have to buy parts from AGCO.

It has the modern PFC hydrualic system, not sure how the flow and pressure compare to the 8050. Our little Deutz tractors had an option of either an oil-pan heating element (not much wattage, so you leave it plugged in 24-7) or a heating element in the plenum behind the cooling fan to heat the cylinder heads (that needs maybe 60-90 minutes plugged in).

Nice 9690 at a local auction first part of March I am curious about. Guessing price with those hours and a good loader should be in the upper 30's to lower 40's. Depends on need for tires?

We've had ours for several years now. It is a 2wd and we only use it for planting. Our biggest complaint is that it uses more fuel than our old Allis tractors do. Everything else works fine on the tractor. We've never had it plugged in, as it never is used in the Winter. rrhead(SD)

9650 has the small deutz motor, was told they are fine without trying to get more out of it than factory. I had a 9670 and 9690 with the big 585 deutz motor and they were bulletproof. The only problem I had with mine was pto clutches going out three times a year. Might have been caused by pulling a hesston 4x4 square baler 12mph, but not sure...

Our neighbors have an orange 9150 with the Duetz. He likes it so much, they bought a second one. I got an air cooled in my combine and like it. It seems to be easy on fuel. I guess if it is taken care of, they will last a long time. Tractordata.com claims the hydraulics are closed system which should be good. I would make sure it has the heating element in the plentium. I have a magnetic heater on the pan of our combine and that doesn't work very well and the oil pan is not magnetic. Our neighbor has a kersone heater that he puts under the tractor and after an hour, it fires right up.

They are a good tractor, just keep the engine clean. If you have any oil leaks on the engine, FIX THEM. They can and will cause the enigne to overheat and they are very expensive to repair. Deutz parts are expensive period.
