I was watching a fishing show this morning on ESPN. There was a Chevy truck commercial that came on. It was a few seconds, but there was a red pickup tugging on an old busted up AC. Had a strap connected to the tractor and pulling it over. I think it was a C, maybe a B. They were flipping the tractor back on all fours. Funny how the eye catches those things.

Thought I would share.

Yeah, I know what you mean, pretty sure I seen D series fenders on the show American Pickers ; awhile back me, my wife and daughter was in the middle of -no where- going to look at some hybred poodles , I told them to yell if they seen orange setting out, behind the barn, etc; both their replys were - I am looking , I cant believe it -but I am looking for orange !!! Theyre coming round !!

Doug, my wife has been pretty well trained a long time ago to watch for orange wherever we are. My children are a different story though. They wouldn't tell me if a piece of orange jumped up and bit em!

ESPN tresspassed into my yard once and took some footage. No orange in it though.

I saw the ad during the Olympics and also thought I recognized the look of an A-C.  You viewers with stop action TV's have confirmed my suspicions.  Thanks!  I did take a burn to seeing them abusing what might have been a salvageable orange prize.

I just saw this commercial, and the chevy silverado truck is ripping the crap out of an allis chalmers C. It is not just uprighting an overturned tractor it is flipping it over and over. What would be the point of this demonstartion. It doesnt prove much about a chevy truck. And who in there right mind would ever pull a tractor sideways, thats just asking for a disaster. Im a little skeptical of the commercial if you couldn't tell.

I saw the commercial last night and was really PO!!!!!!!  Maybe someone should make a video of an AC doing that to a Chevy truck and see how they like it!

I have an IDEA!,,,I have a buddy that has a junk yard here in town, I outa take my 1953 WD and a strap to the yard and find a Chevy due for the crusher and video me hooking a strap to it and rolling it over a couple of times and then drag that SOB while it's on it's top to the crusher and video it being crushed while the old 1953 AC lives on for the next job?!
How's that sound,,,then post that on youtube?

Those guys would be doing themselves and the kids a favor if they taught them how to restore the C rather than building them a baseball field.

There is a subtle point to this display.  Back in the 40's the unions struck AC.  Now the unions own GM. Do I have to draw a picture?

Hmmmm that never crossed my mind Dave but you might be onto something.  It's also interesting that Toyota's (edit) have overnight gone from the "highest quality" vehicles on the planet to junk.  (edit)

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not personally a big Toyota fan but something doesn't seem right.

I owe you guys and Darin an apology for my previous post on this  topic.  I had been over in the politics "room" and somehow forgot where I was when I brought politics into this thread.   I'm going to go back now and edit it out so if you didn't see it already don't bother to look.

Yep, that definitely looks like a C with the double pickup plows. I would almost kill to have that setup on my C, and some punk that doesn't even know how to get on a tractor is tearing the living crap out of a tractor that propably could have been saved. It at least could have donated so that others could live. I bet it was shredded shortly after that commercial. Crap, that makes me mad. I am NOT a GM fan. I think they should have been broken down and sold off to pay part of their debt and to get the worthless junk off the road. Who wants to pay 50 grand for a car with a fake pickup bed on it that won't run long enough to pay it off anyway? Not trying to start anything with the Chevy guys, I just never had any luck with any of them I ever had. Good thing about a Chevy though, is you never have to worry about them showing high mileage, the odometers(and most other instruments, lights, etc. usually quit pretty early on). I would REALLY  like to hook my trailer to my 1995 F-150, load my C and a log chain up, and go find that red POS. I bet I could make it into a lot of little peices pretty quick!

Sorry for the rant, that just really PO'd me watching them disrespect an icon that helped make this country great with a truck made by a company that has helped tear it apart.

Charlie, I wasn't offended, and my "contribution" can be viewed as the first political comment.  It was not intended as political in nature, it is well researched, and documented, in several books of AC history.  I stand behind it, then and now.

Thanks but part of it didn't belong in this forum.  I cut out the offending portions.

The tractor started out upside down, on it's top, yet when in the end when it was up right it's steering wheel and shaft was still straight.

See here Dream.  I don't like the ad either but I've about had it with your GM bashing.
I wouldn't buy a Chevy right now myself because I don't want to do business with Gov't motors but the FACT IS that Chevy and GMC (same truck except for some sheet metal and trim) build more trucks every year than Ford or any other comptetitor.   In the light duty range they get better gas mileage than any competitor.  In the medium to heavy pick up range they have the best diesel engine currently in the market and the best automatic transmission (Allison) that money can buy.

My 06 GMC 4 wd crew cab has 120,000 miles on it.  NOTHING on the truck has been touched yet.  I did put a set of brake pads on the front about 2 weeks ago.  NO belts, mufflers, lights, spark plugs, etc. have been touched and none need to be touched.
I drive a lot on dirt roads and therefore change the air filters often.  However, the air box is located such that they never seem to need changing when I change them.  I haven't pulled one out yet that couldn't stay in twice as long.  The air box has a manometer on it to tell you when they are plugged just in case.

You go ahead and drive whatever you like but keep your opinions to yourself please because the crap you are spouting is NOT fact.

Charlie, I try to subscribe to the belief that if something is said, that can be taken 2 ways, I take the more positive one.  At least in non political mode!  Anyway, we'd have heard from the moderator, by now, if he had a major problem.  Whole topic is a  sore spot, anyway, do you squeeze the puss out, or nick it and let it drain on its own?
