I'm stripping the ole WC down and do not no the year or anything about it. Was wondering if someone could help me with the numbers, rear end is stamped with wc115496. I believe the engine to be a WD engine which doesn't really matter but the number on the block is wd220972ga. Any info on these would be appreciated. Thanks

WC's and WD's ran the same engine. ....201 cubic inch and around 27-32hp. The year is 1942 according to your serial. I pull a 1945 WC.

I knew they were both 201ci but is a WC block stamped with WD as the first two letters?

Where are you finding that stamp? I've got several and have never seen any stamping like that. Just casting codes but I could be wrong. Even if it were stamped and from a WD they were basically identical engines.

On the left hand side between the carb and air cleaner. I'm just curious as to know if its not the original engine

That engine is from a 49WD. Bookmark this page for further reference.

The WC engines were stamped as WCXXXXXX and the WD engines were stamped as WDXXXXXX. You have a WD engine in your WC. Like stated above, both were 201 engines. Rick

Ryan, all blocks should have a serial number stamped on em. The unstyled WC was stamped on the rear, center of the block and when they came out with a starter, it was moved to the left side of engine below and ahead of the air cleaner.
