Track is the one part that costs IF it is shot - it's hard to find now .
As a parts machine one could do better than scrap price if one took the time to dismantle it - or as a supply while you look for another machine to use the parts on.
I wanted a HD6 for a while but made do with the HD5G and HD5B  I had - then mater machines seems to have made the track loader less the workhorse and my backhoe and then excavator became main machines of use.

If it's more to play with then work hard it should be a nice machine for the price, if it runs and moves.  Having a trailer big enough to haul it is a plus.  Can get expensive if you have to pay to move it each time.

Unless it is junk, I'd likely take a chance on it. I owned one and it was a great little dozer. Attach a picture, please.

Please post a picture. I have (2) but they are a 1961 model and 1956 model.  I would like to find a newer model with power steering and brakes. This one should have those features.

I had my HD6G on eBay with a reserve of $4500 bidding went up to $3800 so I still have it. I have another HD6G that sat for 2 years while I was rebuilding the motor. Now that the motor is running the steering clutches are frozen. If you are looking at a newer machine that has the newer steering clutches this might not be an issue. There are (3) shovel designs on HD6G's. The 3rd design starting with S/N 11094 have a double link on the dump cylinder is desirable. On the older shovels the hydraulic cylinder is in single shear. On a hard dig you can bend the cylinder rod. Been there done that.
