Question on types of tires to run on tractor.
Right now I run 24.5x32 rear firestone 151 Field and Roads Bias on my D 21 puller. Runs about 300 HP in the 9000 lb 12 MPH class.
Looking to put 20.8x38 Firestone 151 Field and Roads on this same tractor and pull in the 10,000 and 11,000 Lb 6 mph class. I am leaning this way right now. Might pull a little bigger turbo on it with a 3LM over the Garrett.
Next have a D 21 puller in the 1100 to 1300 HP range that I am building and have right now 24.5x32 23 Degree bar Firestone radials that I will double cut.
Or I put the 24.5x32 Bias 151 Field and roads and will double cut these. On a widen Aluminum rim.
What are your guys thoughts. Leaning toward the 151 Bias on the puller. They are super hard tires and bite very well.
Thanks in advanced, Darryl

I think the 20.8's would be great on the 300 HP tractor, but wouldn't be near enough on the 1100-1300 HP tractor where the 24.5's belong.

I find in our 12 mph class that it is about 50/50 for the 20's vs 24's. some nights our 24's kick but, but some nights the 20's hand us our heads on a platter. And we are running 800 plus hp. On your hot tractor don't go over board with rim width. I would recomend around 25-27 inches max. good luck. doyle

Right on Marty! The 24.5's cost you power to turn them, and put that much more dirt in front of the sled. Good 20.8X38's are taller too.

Just measured the tires. The Bias 151 Firestone field and roads are 65 inches tall and 23 inches of tread.
The 23 degree bar Firestone Radials are 22.25 inches of tread and 67 inches tall. I have 29 inch wide rims on it now and will go to 26 inch wide. Would the Bias be better over the radial for the 1100 to 1300 HP tractor? Bias are super hard tires also.
Thanks guys!!! Darryl
