While At my property in Kansas, I found, in the snow; 1 Steel Wheeled McCormick Deering No. 7 Tractor, 1 John Deere No2, SN: Z656 H+ with a Sickle mower attached, and 2 Moline 3 bottom plows all on Steel.

Just wondering what these would be worth, or if it would be worth restoring them. Given the monetary means.

The three bottom plows look Complete except for the Coulters (but they may be in the Snow)

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Miles

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I knew there was some metal there but I haven't spent much time here in the winter so this was a big surprise... I think my Grandfather bought the McCormick Deering in August of 1929, because my mother has pictures of him and his brothers proudly standing next to one...

Miles,
Being as that McCormick has been in your family for over 80 years, I would seriously consider trying to bring it back to life.  I've got a nice red trailer you can use any time you want.LOL
On a serious note, Stuart Anderson, owner of one of the Case steam tractors and part owner of the Avery and other two Case's at the Doughorty show passed away on Friday from Parkensons, etc.  A good man, he will be missed but the engines will continue to come to the show.

They sound like sickle bar mower designations. Would be cool to see the tractor photos.

The desigantion on the John Deere is diagonal on a cross brace so it is quite possible that it is for the Sickle Mower. The Z656 H+ is on the final drive of the JD. The MicCormick Deering No. 7 is also on the final drive of that tractor. Both of these tractors are partially buried and need to be excavated, which I am planning on doing in March.

The Diameter of the wheels on both tractors seem to be between 2.5 and 3 feet and they are both steel. The parts I can see apear to be in good shape, however I will have to  see how the parts that are buried have held up. lol

John, I am sorry to hear about Stuart Anderson, PM me about the Services.

Apparently the McCormick Deering No7 was a Horse Drawn Sickle mower.
Although this is not a picture of my particular equipment, this is exactly how mine looks at this time.

Because of the H at the end of the serial number on the J.D. I wonder if it's an H.

The John Deere number 2 is also a Horse drawn Sickle mower There is another empliment that we found there that is not horse drawn but I haven't had a chance to really look at it yet... it is further in the ground.

I don't want to be a spoiler but don't get too excited until you unearth the equipment. I have run into a similar situation that didn't end as I had hoped. I will wish you good luck and hope that the machinery is still intact. I live in the south so we probably have more moisture.

Not more moisture than Kansas this year! Had to have a Semi Wrecker come in to haul the power company's cherry picker out that was stuck up to it's axles! lol If nothing else, I can make it interesting yard art!
