There's a G for sale on Ebay that is represented as having no creeper gear. It's located in Madison, AL (near Huntsville). We had a G for awhile that did not have the extra low gear. It was not as nice for plowing so we sold it and now we have one with the low low gear. So they are out there. Andrew ------------- Andrew Gubbels Gubbels Restoration |

Andrew,
In the recent past there seemed to be a debate on this forum as to if the Creeper Gear was actually missing or just "disabled" but still present.
I thought this "real-time" situation might clarify the matter.
Just curious Andrew, did you happen to peek into the transmission or split the tractor to see if the creeper gear was missing? Please don't take this question the wrong way - I'm just trying to get more details on your situation.

There was a lengthy discussion on here recently about this - conclusion seemed to be that some G's were made w/o the creeper gear but that one could be installed easily. Here's a link to the earlier discussion:

Too bad someone butchered the rear section of the hood. Look's like they wanted to be able to get at the generator easily. |

I never did look into the transmission guys. I am not sure if it was just blocked out or if it was not there. I would guess it to be dnot there. I am sure that there was a price difference in purchase without the creeper gear. I am sure it was an option. So my guess would be nothing was there but it wouldnt be to bad to install one. Gentlemen, Every G tractor has the creeper gear. They just dissapear from the shift pattern. Happened to us in 1948 too.
Remove the seat, the gear shift lever, and check with a flashlight to find the shifter fork on the left side. Take a long screwdriver and move it back into the pattern. Will work then.
We sold a ton of G tractors and never had one without it. Also, never had knowledge of one without the creeper gear. Many get confused cause the basic transmission was a B-C. The raised gear pattern only shows three gears. HOwever, the G pattern was located on the top of the battery box. Since many have been damaged and corroded they are lost and many think the B-C pattern is correct.
Anyway, all one has to do to check withoug all the above is check right befoe the transmssion - front - is a housing where the gear is located.
Sorry I get sooo windy on this but that's the way it is.

The low low gear is not on the inside of the transmission. They are mounted on the front. Put a jack under the back of the engine to hold it from tipping down and remove four nuts and slide the housing forward a little bit and peek inside.
