Found the engine number on my '51 CA  it is R 14620 G. Is this correct for a '51 CA or has the engine been changed out?

I suspect it has been changed out. R prefix is a 60H gasoline power unit engine.

Thanks Ken.
Any idea where I can find information about this engine?

It has the standard 3 3/8 bore if it hasn't been rebuilt with a overbore kit. The governor is probably a standard rpm unit. The CR prefix power units turned up 1900 rpm. It should be just fine as a tractor engine. It is the same basic engine used on later Bs, All Cs and CAs. Often these power unit engines have had lower running hours than tractor engines the same age. If they were on a combine they sat idle most of the year. Makes sense I think.

I've known this tractor since the late '70s but my relatives that know the history have either passed on or have Alzheimer's. So far as I know it has been in use with this engine since then.
I did learn that some time in the early '70s the tractor caught fire and fell over when it burned. My uncle rebuilt it after that and had been using it until he got sick in 2008. Just a wild guess but that might be when the engine was swapped out.
