If I was you, I'd have the pump timing set at EXACTLY what it should have been when the engine was built and go from there, certainly NOT retarding it, but maybe advancing it 2 degrees at a time (and no more than 2 degrees) not to exceed a total of 6 degrees. Start at stock timing setting !!!!!!!!!!!
