Is there any difference in the 210 and 220 from the bell housing back? I was wandering as far as the transmisson, rear end, fenders ,3 point.  I dont think there is anything, but I thought I would ask you guys.

some gear ratios in transmission, and in the range transmission too. Otherwise fuel setting of the injection pump, and the grill/sheet metal, are the only differences. Ed.

Thought the 220 drive train was adaptable to front wheel assist configuration but 210 could not .

my 220 housing has a place on the casting where the drop box for FWA would go but is NOT machined (1970)

My 1970 220 has the place for the drop box with a plate over it.  Do you know your serial no?

I was once told the FWA 220's had a unique rear end housing for the front drive assembly. Maybe there were a few extra, so they got a plate, or maybe converted back to 2WD? interesting! how many of the "100 built" are accounted for? Ed.

Jordan, mine is 220 2123 D. Has a plate under the housing in front of trans but I'm pretty sure the drop box was farther back.Been a while since I looked underneath mine.I remember seeing a picture of a "real" one once and it seems it was farther back. Can't be positive. My manual has some of the front end stuff in it but it's not here to look at.

So can you put the transmisson on back from a 220 onto a 210? I guess from what you guys are saying. I know the sheetmetal and those things. I have a 210 and 2-220's ,was trying to make a restoration go a little quicker. Was going to put the 220 from the tranny on back on a 210 to fix alot of problems real quick.

Yes you can they are the same internally.  The serial numbers of coarse are different IG.  The ratios they are talking about were available in the 210 and 220s.  It is just in the low range.  They are faster in some.  All of the front wheelers had the fast low range gears.  We have had a couple 220's with the fast low range in them.  Our neighbor had a 210 with the fast low range.  You should have no problems what so ever doing the swap.  The steering towers are even the same. Only difference is in the front. radiator, sheet metal, front end casting, like was said earlier the fuel.  I do know that some 210s did not have the extra rods/braces for the drawbar.  Possibly may have the smaller roller on the draw bar.  Minor things.  I hope this helps.

If you split the two and try swapping at the back of the 4 speed trans, make sure you count the teeth on the gear going into the range transmission. make sure they are the same, otherwise, you'll be trying to mix fast low range and standard with each other. The 1st gear in the transmissions were offered with an optional slower ratio, hence the "slow first and fifth". So, if you swap from clutch back, you wont have any problems. HTH, Ed.

From the trans on back should not be an issue, however,if I remember right there is a tapered brg on the input shaft which has the race shimmed in the housing in front of trans(where pto drive is).I think the only way to get that right is from the front of that housing which means split at clutch and dismantle that housing!!!LOL I had to replace some trans gears and just hoped that clearance was "ok" since it was original.Do it right or do it again!HA HA! LOL LOL

I looked at my manual, the drop box was farther back than I thought.  I always figured the plate was where it bolted on, anyone know what that was for?  Mine is no. 2137, has the spot but not machined.

Jordan, could it be that the plate under the pto gears is where they have to be installed into the housing?I think that is a seperate housing space not open to the front towards clutch.Again,my manual isn't here right now.
