Am picking up my 59 D-14 in an hour.Quick question. I know, I should have askedearlier but should I drive it onto the car hauler forwards or backwards ????Thanks for any help.

| depends if the rear tires have fluid or wieghts. if the rear tires are empty i would say forward. you will want to be able to adjust the wieght so that you have some of the wieght on the vehicle |

When I haul my WD45's I drive them on. I stop the tractor when the tractor rear wheels are centered between the axles. hope that helps. Tires are air only, so I'll drive up centered on the traile axles.

Both times I hauled a tractor, I ended up pulling over and readjusting where the tractor sat. Both were movered forward. ------------- God bless our troops and the United States of America. Pick your rut well, you may be in it a long time. |

| You will be able to adjust the tractor position so it rides better not to far forward but forward enough so you always have some tongue weight. |

Before loading, measure from tow ball to ground, record the dimension. Load your tractor and drive it on to where the previous measurement is now one inch less. This normally provides the preferred 10% loading on the trailer ball. This has always worked good for me, and readily accomodates a big variety of loads (shop equipment, residential belongings, two AC G's, firewood, old shingles, etc). Herb |

I'll have to remember that Herb. I've only hauled my D17D once on my 6X12 tandem axle trailer. The trailer handled the weight no problem, but I had no room to move the tractor around. About 50mph it felt like it was going to sway, so I kept it at 45 mph all the way from just east of down town Des Moines to Prairie City.  She's home safe and sound !, thanks to the 'words of wisdom' from you guys!!
So far I've removed the rear view mirror,replaced the right rear rim/tire ,spread the front axle to 60" and rewired the dist to 1-2-4-3 instead of the 2-1-4-3 order. Purrs like a kitten,roars like an Allis ! Time for some homemade chili...raining cats and dogs here.
