I have a friend wanting to install new brakes on a d-15. I am only famiular with the d-17 and d-19 set up.. I Didn't know if they were the same or not. I have not went over thee yet to see..but any poniters befor I head over there would be helpful. Do they have the same location/ access and set up as the D 17's and 19's have?
Thanky you in advance,

It isn't what you buy,

The 2 15's I have are as follows. Remove the wheel. Remove the 4 nuts that hold the axle housing on the transmision and the 2 nuts that hold the rear of the foot rest. Loosen the 2 front bolts for the foot rest so the foot rest will lower a bit out of the way. Slid the axle assembly off the tranny and there are the brake shoes. The brake drum is pressed onto the axle and will stay with the assembly when it's removed. The brake shoes are held into place with 1 spring each. Very simple to service once the housing is out of place.

On the D15 the series II brake shoes are different and MUCH more expensive than the series I.  I have heard that series I shoes can be put in a Series II but can't verify it.

Series one brakes were fiber, series 2 were ceramic

I removed the ceramic pads and rivited new linings on the shoes on my II.  It had shoes on one side and pads on the other when disassembled.
