How can I tell the difference between an I40 and an I400 without the serial number available?  Are these 2 the same as an ag. D14?  I would like to get an owners manual and found one that says "I40 Loader attaches to D14 operators manual" other wise I can not find one for an I40 or I400.  I am a novice and just bought this tractor.  Any help would be appreciated.

If I understand the time line for AC the I-40's were the same serial numbers as D-12'sand I400's were given a solid front end and square radiator housing like their I-600 bigger brother's and went to serial numbers that said I-400/I-600. I think you could use a loader on a 14 with the right mounts.

Yea, I can fix that.....

Thanks Dave.  I have a square radiator so I must have a I400.  The tractor has a loader now I'm looking for an owners manual for it.  Would the I400 be the same as a D14 as for owners manual purposes?

I 40 and I 400's are the industrial version of a D-10 series III.  The only difference between a I-40 and an I-400 is the 40 has 5 stud front wheels and the 400 has 6 studs.
The big difference was in the backhoe but if it doesn't have a backhoe there is no real difference.
Same goes for the I-60, I-600, and 615 gas. All industrial versions of the D-15 Series II
with the differences being with the backhoe.

Thanks Calvin.

I have 5 stud front wheels so now it must be a I-40.  Regardless, I can't find an owners manual for an I-40 or I-400.  But if I can get a D-10 series III manual that should work for me.

Get an I-40 or I-400 manual for the tractor as It has either a shuttle or high low transmission. There are differences as the I-400 has hydrostatic steering as well. The ag tractors have a steering box. I have an I400.

I was an owner of an I-40 Loader/Backhoe and just recently sold it.
If you email me I should have pictures, all 5 manuals in electronic versions I can send you.  I miss my girl and am always looking for another project one.
Email me:  mailto:easygoin4@yahoo.com" rel="nofollow - easygoin4@yahoo.com
It will not be until the evenings when I can get to that email.
