I was coming home tonight with a load of straw on the wagon and the WD45's throttle dropped to Idle but the throttle quadrant was still at 3/4 throttle. Now when you move the throttle it does move the linkage to the top of the governor but does not move the cross shaft that is suppose to control the carburetor. I think a spring broke in the governor, I have a repair manual but wanted some advise before I tear in to this project. How hard is it to replace this spring? I got the cover off and the spring, w/plunger is broken. They offer 3 different RPM selections, 1400 std., 1600 or 1800, which one is best for the tractor? My tractor is serial# 166300, my Engine Serial# 45-23211G ------------- Danny Raddatz |

Now you lost me, why would you use a D series spring and what number is that spring? I am suppose to give 2 church's rides this weekend, weather permitting, I am trying to find this spring today. Does any one know of a stock spring that may be able to get at an auto parts store? ------------- Danny Raddatz |

I think it is the D-17 spring, it gives more RPM's. That is what I have learned on here. You said that 'They' offer 3 springs. Who is They? Where did you find the info?

According to the book, General Specs state the RPM (Governed) 1400, RPM (High Idle) 1677-1722. Don't know if this helps you or not? Are you far from Lacon? Doc's Equipment. He just might have such an animal. He has used and new parts. Phone: 309-246-2900

| I put the 1800 in mine and don't like it. the tractor runs to fast for my comfort. I had a 1400 in it but it didn't respond well the 1400 was streched out of shape. so I'll need to order another one. till it gets here I just don't run the throttle all the way up. you can change it without even taking the hood of. its alittle tight but you can get it on with a neddle nose vicegrips. I've never seen a hardware store with a spring that would work. Agco here had the 1800 instock when I needed one. |

I would like to thank Larry one of the forum members who had a spring and is lending to me until the one comes from the dealer later this week. | I had the roll pin come out or break(can't remember) of #17 lever and idle was all I had.Took a little effort to figure it out. Fixed it out in the middle of the field buy removing front cover. |

They sure don't give you much room as you know to work between the radiator and that cover. I got home that night by using a bungee cord on the carburetor linkage and adjusting the tension so it was just above idle. ------------- Danny Raddatz |

I own a big thanks to Don Bradley also whose fore thought on Saturday morning to post the SOS for the part I needed. He too as all the other members has been their for me from day one on my WD45 guiding me through the tractor repairs.
