I seem to remember that the generator side frame rail can be removed to make it easier to pull the engine out of a WD45?  My service book said nothing about this.  Pros and cons for doing it?  It's a narrow front.

NOT NECASSARY  UNBOLT STEERING WHEEL SUPPORT THEN CAN TURN IT ENOUGH TO REMOVE DONE IT MANY TIMES AT DEALERSHIPsecure crank rod forward with vise grip
 after removing bolt

So the reason is because the steering shaft is in the way?  And if the shaft is out then the engine will come forward and then straight up as long as the hand starter is pulled forward and held there with the vise grips?Smile

I removed the radiator to give me more room.
