This planter is up for auction tomorrow and I was wondering what model the units are? the frame is a 770. It has a squeeze pump and original allis moniter. It needs all new openers. What do you think it is worth? Anyone know how pricey parts are? I would like to put 3 more units on to make a splitter. what do the units go for and are they common. Also I would like to make it no-till, Can i find no-till brackets? Im asking a lot of questions but I want to knowwhat im getting into, no matter what it will be a heck of a project but It will grab some attention when its in the field next year. Thanks in advance for any input.

I am no expert on the Allis planter line, but from what I have read, this is one of the few if only planters where the number on the tool bar, is actually the planter unit.

I am pretty sure Allis made a model 77, 78, 330, and 770 Air Champ planter unit, there may be a couple others out there, but what I think you have is truely a 770 Air Champ planter, and those are 770 units as well.

At any rate I would be shocked if that planter sold at auction for anything over iron price, unless you have two collectors wanting it.  I seem to remember a while back an 18 row hydro fold everything with air units and hydro markers bringing $750.  Nobody wants these things except for the cut-m-up food plot guys or the iron men.

Those are definately "77" Air Champ units with a common drive (770 frame). There is a shoe behind the disc openers. These weren't the best for depth control and they plugged a lot between the discs in damp heavy soils....been there....dun many.
