Just wondering how you guys bushhog with the older AC models,like a C or B because they don't have a 3 point? And if you got a pic of your setup it would be great. I think I got what I am going to do figured out. I am going to buy a D17 or a 170 gas and then have an older C, B, or WD to bushhog with, that way I will have an excuse to have 2 AC's the only other thing I thought of was getting the D17 or 170 and buying a small oliver 550 or such. That way I can use the little tractors to hog with or spray and just whip out the big boys when I'm baling. I am sure the little guys will pull a hay rake good as well. ------------- Hopefully Future AC Man! Ride With Jesus my friends! Lonas |

You either add 3 point to the tractor or you buy a trailer type mower. I have an old JD gyromor that I pulled behind the 35WC this spring. I have the cylinder blocked to hold it at mowing height so I don't NEED hydraulics.

I pull a king cutter pull type i have a ratchet binder on mine, keep greased it'll be easy to adjust up and down. ------------- G, 200, 8050 mfd, D17, 195 chainsaw, c-wide front |

I've done some brush hogging with my ca, I used a 5'pull type. It works pretty good for pastures, but the no floor pan makes it a little hairy for heavier brush. | Depending on your terrain -- you can use a pull type hog. I have an older AC model that I have pulled behind a D17D and a 185 - probably more tractor than it needs, but works just fine on the rolling fields. (same model OldDoug posted pictures of) Have a 5' 3pt Bush Hog that I use on an AC5030 -- need the 3pt to lift up when crossing some terrain. To get to some fields, have to go down road a little bit -- but still use the pull behind and drive on down the road. But that is no excuse not to have two tractors -- or 3 -- or 4 -- or ???? - LOL. Also - use that 5030 with hay rake and finish mower. |

Put a 3 point on your B or C and you will have a load of 3 point implements you can get.   |

Yep, the three point opens up lots of opportunities, but it can certainly be done with a trailer type. Done both, and honestly, depending on terrain, sometimes the trailer is beter. But the 3 point setup has real advantage in tighter areas.

 I have a home made 3 point on mine. it allows it to work but doesn't move so it acts more like a deck mower. Now that I put new rings and pistons in it, it really goes to town! Just wish it would rain around here so I can really use it! lol It has 2 3/8 inch angle iron bars that run from the seat frame to the drawbar and the arms are attached to that. It is the greatest setup I've ever had, run the bigger trees under the final drive and the brush hog eats them up! I bought the whole setup for $1000.00 2 years ago. I have a King Kutter pull type that came with the farm. Cuts fine, but doesn't maneuver as nicely as a 3-point mounted one would. From what I've seen, good Oliver Super 55s and 550s aren't cheap. Could probably get two good smaller ACs (B-C-CA) for what one Ollie utility would cost. |

| Best AC tractor/bush-hog combo will always be a D-14 tricycle with a 160 snap coupler bush hog, and the original height adjusting rooster comb. Just my humble opinion. It had the balance, just right, and the bush hog was the same width, as the narrowest wheel setting of the D-14. I could pee, drink a beer, and shoot a groundhog, all at the same time, on flat, level ground! |

Dave, you are talented sir! I'd get all confused and end up peeing in my beer! Course, the land aint quite as flat around here. We stay pretty busy dodging rocks, holes, and gulleys. Anyhow, here is a pic of my C with the trailer bush hog that my grandad used behind it. Driveline needs rebuilding in a bad way. Flops and bangs all the way through any turn over 5 degrees. Does a nice job though.

You got engine weights JB. I'm jealous! LOL! How does the C handle that 6'? Mine is a 5' and goes through thick and tall grass and brush with no problem in first gear. Cuts pretty good in second. it does alright, i use second gear but i keep after it so it doesnt get too tall... the mower came with the tractor when i bought it, and the guy i got it from used it to mow about 5 acres a coulpe times a year . i hac the c hooked up to the water tank i used to water my sweet corn and garden so i put the mower behind the wd45 . it handles it better in the couple feet tall grass....Jb ------------- 8050 FWA, 190XT, 185, Styled wc, Unstyled wc, (2)C, (2)WD45NF, WD45WF, WD,416h, 716h, 312h, 8070 pedal. |
