My wife and I drove from WV to Hollywood Ca the past weekend arriving on Monday.  She is a contestant on Wheel of Fortune to be taped on Thursday.  We wanted to drive so we could see the country.  A lot of short dry corn and dry grass.  I saw a few Allis tractors along the way.  Mostly green and red tho.  We came out I64 then 70.  Going back I 40.  This is really different for a old country boy.

hey good luck on WOF. (buy the vowels! win big!)
if i still had my office in hollywierd i woulda been delighted to give a good ole country boy a grand tour... but now i've moved about 2 hours south.  and a lot more rural i'm delighted to say.
hope you enjoy your visit - but please don't try to "see it all".  it's all very crowded.

I sat here driving the route you said in my head, and if that was your first trip cross country I can imagine all of the road to Utah, starting from WVa. I hauled new semi trailers after I retired from farming, and have driven a lot of roads east of Denver and west of I-77. There is so much to see that I expect you were almost to busy to pay attention to just driving, LOL. And one thing came to mind, after a lifetime in the mountains of WVa, when you got to where God took a flatiron to the country, that should have been truly amazing. I-40 will be another very nice experience for you too! Happy trails!!!!

The Wheel of Fortune experience is behind us.  Legally, we can't say anything about the show, but she won enough money to cover our trip so we got a free cross country vacation.  The show will be on October 17, 2012. I hope you all watch it.

And I live 7 miles south of I-40 at exit 130 in Oklahoma. If you come thru and have a chance to make a stop for a driving break, I can come have a cup of coffee with you all if you'd like.
