I need to pull the gas tank off my B and clean. There is quite abit of crude in it causing fuel flow issues. I plan to swish the tank with gas, empty it and repeat until it is clean.

Any helpful hints?? Thanks, Mark

some of the methods that have been posted ( i have not needed to use them) are putting rocks or nuts or other "abrasive" in the tank to knock loose the, as you say, crude. in order to agitate the abrasive you can simply shake it till your hearts content or strap it to a wheel and drive it for a while.

maybe others will print some of the other ideas.

Hotsy or steam cleaner as hot as you can get it take the fuel bung out and work the tank over from the inside through the gas fill holeits always worked for me knocks all the rust and grime out do it till the water that comes out is clear when done the tank is hot and evaporates any water hope that helps

I put about a gallon and a half of dense grade gravel and a gallon or so of gas in the tank, strapped it to the WD45 wheel and went to the field and raked 4 acres of hay with the tank strapped on. This did a pretty fair job of cleaning the rust and scale from the tank. I then poured a quart of muratic acid in the tank( hole in the bottom plugged of course) and swished it around for 10 or 15 minutes. After that the CA tank shines like new money inside.

The last two tanks I had cleaned I took to a local radiator shop. The cost was like 30 dollars each. All the shop ask was that I removed all the gas/diseal out of them. I have tried the rocks etc with little luck. Both tanks came back very clean, and while I had them off I primed and painted both.

i use SUPER-CLEAN and a 3000psi power washer always works for me.
