WELL I FINNALY GOT AROUND TO STARTING THE WD 45 DIESEL I BOUGHT A COUPLE 3 WEEKS AGO. HAD TO PULL IT TO GET IT STARTED . IT WOULDN'T START WITH STARTER . PULLED IT ABOUT 100 FEET & IT STARTED TO FIRE , ANOTHER 50 & IT WAS RUNNING. IT HADN'T RUN FOR 7 YEARS. SEEMS TO ME IT HAS A MISS IN IT, BUT WHEN I GOT IT WARMED UP IT DIDN'T SEEM TO SMOKE ANY THOUGH. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THESE DIESELS BUT IT RUNS & NO MOISTURE IN CRANKCASE SO THATS A PLUS. FOUND ONE CRACKED FITTING ON RETURN LINE LEAKING FUEL. PLAN TO DRAIN FUEL & PUT NEW FILTERS & SEE HOW SHE RUNS. IT'S BURNING CLEAN IN THE PIC.MAYBE SOMEBODY CAN TELL ME WHAT TO CHECK FOR THE MISS.

crack each injector line at the head while running till you find what cylinder is missing then find out why.

I had a 45 diesel once and it sounded like it had a miss. Guy told me the exhaust from #6 cylinder had farther to travel than the exhaust from #1 which is true but that wasn't the problem. When I would apply the brakes and make the engine work a little it sounded better. Turns out the head gasket had started firing across between two cylinders so I replaced the head gasket and then it sounded good. I was lead to believe the head gasket was a problem with the Buda engines but I never had any more trouble with it.

Sounds like you might have a injector sticking , Ive had several 45'Ds and its a common problem with them if they sit for a while . You may have to pull injectors and get your local diesel shop to check them, most of time I just tear them down and take them apart and renew the nozzel and tip and set pressure with my nozzel rater and 99% of the time they run like new agian . If you need any help with it send me a PM .
