My WD is making a squeek, squeek, squeek, squeek in the upper part of the outside left rear axle. What could possibly be wrong? I don't think it is the brakes dragging, and I cked the oil level in the lower axle housing. It is ok.   Will it be hard or expensive to fix from you guys experience?

Thanks
Pastor Mike

Hmmmm,,I'm no expert, but do you have the ability to jack it up and remove the rear wheel and turn it by hand to see if you can zero in on the squeek?
could be a dry bearing is what I'm thinking,

Maybe in your spinouts. Could be loose and making a noise like that.

Does the squeek sound corispond with the revolutions of the wheel or is it several times faster?  If its a bad bearing I would think it would be one of the upper ones as they are farther from the oil.  Keep us posted!

Thanks for all the input. I don't think it is the spin outs, but I will ck that first. I am away from the tractor now..so when I get time for it, I will let you know. It sounds like it is about the same revolution as the wheel, or more often.

check your lug bolts. mine were loose on the front rim and it sounded like the hub bearings were shot.

On the Axle and big drive gear, I think I have a bad outer bearing. How do I get the inner bearing out? I got the cap bolt, washer with pin and very thin shim off. But I can not get the inner bearing out so I can get to the snap ring! How do I get the inner bearing out?
Thanks

OK, your answer is a tough one, you have to pull the final drive,,,YES this means the brake pin and brake shoes will have to come off,,, just on that side of course,,,
Brake drum too,,,

don't have to mess with pinion shaft to deal with axle shaft. Can't say now(too long ago) but probably have to drop bull gear out after driveng axle shaft out.

Well we got the axle out, and the big gear out. SteveM C?IL is right you don't need to take the pinion shaft out to get the lower axle shaft out. Now I just have the outer bearing that was bad to get out. Does the bearing and the bearing cup drive out from the inside hammering it out of the hole toward the outside of the tractor? There is a snap ring in there in the casting that is holding the outer bearing in...so I need to take that very difficult to get out snap ring out to get the bearing out? Or does the bearing just drive out?
