Subject: Question for B experts...

This past weekend I bought a couple of seat back springs for a B that are 2" wide. Everything else I have (or have seen) is 1 1/2" wide. They were on the seat assy and fenders, and were definitely a B. With the rust that went with the seat/fender assy, it sure looked like they were original. There's probably a simple answer here. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Yes, there were some "wide spring" B's produced.  I'm thinking it was the 38's, but I'm probably wrong.  I've seen a couple in my salvage yard before.

The earleir B's had the wide  springs for the back rest. Also they had a wooden back rest. I think this was changed during the 1938 models.

Larry,

The wide seat springs are from the early B. 1938 and a few of the very early 1939's.

My B must have come one piece at a time like the Psycho Billy Cadillac cause it has #254 stamped on the tranny, with one piece brake handles and a 39 engine one riveted front rim and 1.5 inch wide set backsConfused Oh and 4 bump rear wheels instead of split rims.Thumbs Down
