Thanks for being interested in buying my tractor. The price is 5200 dollars. The price does include shipping and insurance to your address.

Let me know if you are interested.

This is the reply I recieved for an ad on craigslist, sounds a little fishy. No phone number and why would he include shipping and ins.. It already seems under priced.

I'm confused. So you Emailed about a tractor ad and thats the responce? Or do you have a tractor for sale?

If the reply is "thanks for the interest in buying my tractor", then I would think that William is the buyer.

Most CL are honest. We've sold hay and equipment on CL, bought a lot of stuff from Craigslist. When you don't get a phone number from them, then be wary. As discussions go further, make sure you talk. Dishonesty will show itself. And cash only for transactions. No doubt though, buyer beware.

I'm starting to get a lot of scam stuff from craigslist postings I have.  Just have to delete them when received.  like ky says, don't even respond, that gives them your email.  I made the mistake of responding once and go replies to my email asking me to click on a link.  deleted those right away.

Yep, it's a scam.

REAL people post CL ads with 'less generic' language.  You didn't say specifically, but I'm betting the 'including shipping and insurance to your address' was done without the 'supposed seller' from actually knowing your address.  That being the case, I wouldn't offer a traceable address... perhaps just a postal code.

And in the same realm, a 'real' interested buyer would offer just enough 'key' information to prove their authenticity.

Send a message back, and tell 'em you're at 1060 W. Addison Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60613, and need it delivered on a short-wheelbase cab-over tractor with removable gooseneck trailer by a member of the Chicago Teamsters Union on Sunday, June 31st...  and you'll issue a cashier's check for $8000, the driver can reimburse you for the difference on delivery....

And see what kind of garbage reply they send back.

Or just ignore it.

One thing that's a clue...  You'll see that ad posted on one local Craigslist, and it'll say it's in some particular location... now copy-paste that same ad headline in a google search, and see if the SAME AD shows up in two dozen OTHER places all over the country, with DIFFERENT CITIES.  I'll bet you it does.
