new to me is a 190 xt, been messin with it and I dont think the water temp gauge and fuel gauge work. Looked at wiring diagram and it looks like to me that these two share the same power wire. So i check for power and guess what none. found a wire that might be the power wire , hooked a jumper to it and the temp gauge moved a bit and fuel gauge went all the way to full? I know tank is almost empty, how do i check the gauge or sending unit? And am i correct that these two should have power when the key is on ?

I tried hooking up one of those gauges to a live 12 volt wire like you did. It pegged on the right side and stayed there -never worked again. Safe to say, you might need 2 new gauges. Best thing to do is to get the wiring diagram from the owners manual and trace the wires on the tractor.

Can't remember if they share or not, but probably because they are both keyed power, get proper power to gauges, then ground the wire on the sending unit to frame, needle should either peg to full or empty, hot or cold, that will tell you wiring is good. If nothing happens clean connections and try again. If nothing happens either wire is broke and grounding to frame, or gauge is bad. If you ground the sending and needle moves all the way to left or right then its the sender.
