The fuel shut off knob keeps working back in while in use and starts to "stall" the tractor. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it. Found ways to cope with it but would like to fix it.

Check by the injection pump. It may just be the geometry of the cable at the pump causing it to be at a more natural position towards the "off" position rather than the "on" position. It's kind of hard to describe, but basically if the cable is flexing a lot at the pump to hold the "on" position, then the cable will want to spring back to its more natural straight position, which in your case may be towards the "off" position. I cannot really think of much else right off the top of my head. I've had the opposite problem on my 7000, where it wouldn't want to cut off when you pushed it back in and that was just due to the adjustment of the cable at the fuel pump.

Loosen the setscrew at the pump lever that retains the wire. Go to the dashboard and pull the knob out about 12 inches. Put a bend or kink in the wire to cause it to drag. Shove the button back in and reconnect at the pump lever.

Just put a small bend in inner wire just befor it pulles back into housing. MACK
