I put on a sealed fuel tank, new sediment bowl, new fuel line and a rebuilt carb today. Engine fired right up, but will not take fuel without sputtering. Sputtering smoooths out some with choke. Tractor acts like it misses at times then will smooth out fine. I have a slight exhaust leak on manifold at head gasket. This carb does not have adjustable power jet. What would be most likely cause. Tractor has sat abought a year. Thanks Tracy

If the manifold gasket is not leaking, the fuel supply needs to be checked out. Did you install a new carb, or a different one? The passages in the carb are very small and require patience and persistance to open up. 50/60 years of use results in accumulations of rust and varnish. Use fine wire, brake cleaner, and compressed air to open them up. Blow brake cleaner thru the passages; run fine wire in them, blow out with compressed air; repeat several times until a nice stream of brake cleaner comes out the other end. You may want to do this to the gas line and carb elbow also. Finally, be sure the sediment bowl screen is clean; I prefer the brass ones over the plastic ones, seems that they do not clog up as quickly. Patience and persistance will win out.
