I got a muffler for my CA, but I am not sure it is correct. Here are some links to the two I am trying to decide on.
AC-1 (the one I have) http://www.ruralking.com/muffler-tractor-allis-chalmers-ac1.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.ruralking.com/muffler-tractor-allis-chalmers-ac1.html AC-3 http://www.ruralking.com/muffler-tractor-allis-chalmers-ac3.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.ruralking.com/muffler-tractor-allis-chalmers-ac3.html
I know that they both say they are for a CA, but which one is closer to factory?

How big is the hole in your hood? Look at the inlet length on both of those, for the one you will need about a 4" hole because the inlet is only 2 1/2" long. If your motor is a low octane motor then it needs an under the hood muffler to be correct.

We looked and it appears that the hood hole is close to 4". I was more concerned if the bottom of the large part of the muffler should be above or below the hood.

+1 for the Walker muffler. The AC3 is similar to the original, but Stanley's quality isn't as good as the Walker. It won't sound right either. Walker's are pretty much a carbon copy of the original equipment.

I agree on the Walker muffler. Also, a Nelson is a great match. it has all the features the walker does. Tony Carbaugh offers the Nelson, they are also not a cheapy.

Of the 2 that you asked about, the AC-3 is the "made to fit" model for the CA, D14 & C15 series 1. These go for about $40.00. Bob

Are you sure that Walker muffler fits the CA and not the WD/WD45? They look the same but the inlet size is different. Bob

I already have the AC-1 muffler and it is on the tractor. I think I will just cut it down so it is more like the AC-3. If I would have known that there is so much difference in mufflers, I would have got a better one. Maybe next time!
Thanks for all the advice, JarrodACFan

The walker number fits a CA. I used the 22028 on mine. That is if you have the gas model and not the distillate. I can't speak for the other, only gas. Mine had a nelson on it when I got it, but opted for the walker this time around. Don't go with a stanley. The walkers are actually welded together and not pressed

I've bought the Walker muffler for the CA/D-10/12 in the past from Rock Auto for about $50 each.

I've got a brand new Walker muffler here that I bought for my CA,but don't have the tractor any more. It DOES fit the CA and NOT the WD/WD45,since the muffler hole is smaller on the CA for the pipe to fit into. If anyone is interested in it,please email me direct at rickinmo@socket.net . It's never been installed on a tractor...80.00,plus shipping. Rick

The Walker number is 22028 for a CA. Better pick up a Walker (or Nelson 04566T) while you still can. The last Walker 22028 that I bought from the auto store had a Stanley AC1 inside the box. While talking with Steve Fischer at Hutch last year he confirmed that Walker is now outsourcing to Stanley due to cost. Sounds like the guys here can fix you up. I keep a stash of NOS and near new units on the shelf for emergencies, lol.
