New to the whole cut outs on a generator on my c. I have 2 wires from my wire harness. Now do I hook them up to the new cut out and then make jumper from the cut out to the field and armature posts? Just don't know how they work if I do that. Am I missing something?

The field does not connect to the cut out, it goes to the light switch (one of the wires in the harness.)Tongue

OK so the field is green in my case witch is hooked up in the dash to the light switch. That goes directly to the generator? And the other wire that's a thicker wire black goes to the cut out and a jumper to the armature?

one wire comes from the Amp meter, probably has the small terminal end on it, so this will have voltage present. you can test it with a volt meter. It goes on the BAT terminal of the cutout. The other side of the cutout is the GEN terminal and you need a jumper from there to the Gen or A terminal on the genny. The second wire from the harness is connected to the light switch and there it grounds out, either directly or through a 3 ohm resistor. This wire regulates the output of the genny by either having the switch knob in, 3 amp charge, or pulled out all the way, 3rd notch, the charging rate is 12 amps. Bob

When you hook up the wires, you have to "flash" the genny. use a jumper wire from the BAT terminal to the GEN terminal on the cutout. Just hold the wire on for a few seconds. You should see a spark. This sets the genny to work with the polarity of your battery. Bob
