There are a couple different styles that were available on the CA's. I don't have any pics but someone will, maybe Bruce or Mark willl have some, they are your neighbors up there. Does yours have a regular drawbar or a snap coupler or is it all missing?

53 should have a pin hitch. I'll try to get a picture after the sun comes out. The lift arms point straight down and a cross bar pins to them.

Here is a snap couple set-up which started in 1953. The lift arms are shorter and the bail isn't attached to the the lift arms.

The pin hitch drawbar pinned under the bell and pinned to the lift arms after they were set vertical.

In Charlie's picture of a CA 'Snap Coupler' set-up, 'Lift Arm Latches' would be installed
on the outer end of each lift arm to complete the 'Snap Coupler Hitch' set-up.

New question 3 gear is out do I have toreplace both gears

If things aren't too bad in the tranny, you might not have to replace any gears. the collar is all that is shifted and if it has most of the wear, the tranny might work for a long time with it replaced and slop taken out of things. It's kinda a wait and see thing till you tear it down and inspect everything. The more times 3rd is used and pops out , the worse the spline on the gear and the more chance of having to replace it $$$$$.
