I just bought a new idea 456 round baler.  It looks pretty decent, havent run it yet.  Just wondering if any of you guys ever ran one and what to look for and what parts costs.  Also I was wondering how you would get it tie a bale, as i didnt get a owners manual.  Thanks for any advise and/or help Kurt

On older round balers belts seem to be the most expensive.  My dad had a bigger model of these.  Their a soft core baler and he lost quite a few bearings on the rollers because he tried to make them tighter.  If your on hills their really hard to get even because the soft core tends to tumble to the down hill side.

As far as tying the string runs out on an arm and you pull the arm back with a rope till the string catches then pull it all the way out and slowly move it back.  It's just like most systems and works OK as long as the knife will cut the string.

Thanks Byron, if I would have known it was a soft core baler it wouldve stayed at the guys place!!!   As I didnt/ dont have any knowledge of round balers and the guy told me that it produced a 600 to 800 pound bale and found out today it makes 1100 to 1800 bales.  Now my skid loader wont be big enough to handle em!!!  I recken it was a to good of a deal to pass up!!!!! Now I can look for a newer skid steer too!
