My 1941 B that I picked up for snow plowing has a bad noise in the pto.  It's been that way since I got it last fall just haven't gotten around to doing anything with it.  I narrowed the noise down to the pulley shaft bearing with a screwdriver on the housing ( use that trick on helicopter shaft bearings and it works great).  Anyway in the past somebody drilled the housing and put a grease zerk in there to grease up the shaft bearings.  I have no use for the belt pulley so I was thinking about just removing the shaft and machining up a plug to close the hole in the casting and pressing it in where the seal would normally go.  Anybody ever done this before.  I could put in new bearings and a seal/sleeve but I don't really want to spend money on something that i'll never have a use for.  I'll keep the parts and could always put it back in if I ever needed it.

Thanks,
Mike
