Was curious what other options there are to Calcium Chloride for filling tires? Have you tried used antifreeze or other liquids? Thanks for the input. Jim

Used antifreeze can be free from your local auto repair shop. Beet juice and foam are higher priced and I understand you have to cut the tires off if they are filled with foam. It won't rot the rim in 50 years though like CaCl2 does.

The advantage of the Calcium Chloride is the added weight.

As I recall, the proper mixture adds about 2.25 lbs per gallon.

I have heard that beet juice weighs nearly the same as the CACL2 solution.

I have 100 gal of Dow-Therm antifreeze from building chiller system that would also work. Anti-freeze without the additives that are used in engines . I used it in in-floor heating systems as the medium but it could be used for ballast also .

Check with chemical companies for other non-corrosive such products.
