Is it hard to remove the oil pan with engine still in the tractor?TIA,Matt

I'm going outta' memory, but I think the lower part of the bellhousing interfered with removing the pan on a B. ? It's been a while since I've been under any of mine other than to change the oil, but I vaguely remember somethin' interfered under there. Somebody that does know fir' sure will jump on...

I most recently did it on my wf CA, don't think there's much difference. It gets a bit fiddly at the flywheel end but doable.

In theory, the answer is Yes. In practice, it is often easiest to support the tractor on a jack stand at the torque tube and remove the front axle. If the front axle support pins are worn or loose in the front plate, space for wiggling the pan out of place gets tight.

I'm with Brett. Better to support under torque tube and remove the front axle. Not a lot of extra work but makes it much easier to remove/replace the pan...plus gives you extra room under the engine.

I have found that there is a difference in the B's as far as removing the pan. Some you can twist the pan around and the slip it right out. Others you have to slide the axle pivot plate out about 1/2". You don't have to remove the nuts on the studs going into the engine just back them off enough for the pan to clear the pivot bolt head. I posted pictures of two B pans several years ago with one over the other to show that one pan was slightly larger than the other. I don't have time to look for them now.
