I've been having trouble with my old generator on my D19D. I want to change over to a 1 wire alternator. The only problem is after looking at it there doesn't appear to be enough room to fit a alternator in where the generator is. I know people have installed alternators on D19s. Got any pics or the way to make it fit?

I used a 10si GM three wire alternator. Took the pulley from the generator straight off and put it on the alternator. I welded up a small custom mount that bolted onto the block so I had the option of putting the generator back on if I wanted. Didn't even have to buy a new alternator belt, just reused the old generator belt. Clearance is pretty close to the edge of the front shroud, probably about a 1/16 of an inch, but it fits and looks good. I'll try to get a picture for ya tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be easier to get the old generator rebuilt??  Usually as good as new for just under $100 around here...

Thanks for the pics!

Looks like that generator bottom mount is different from any of the others I've dealt with.

That 7071 3 o'clock version fits in there just right. Its pint size "CS-130" cousin would give you more room in tight quarters like that, but that "SI" seems to fit with a little room to spare. Nice job Brad. Looks great! 3 wire which is what you want on a Tractor, and a nice simple mounting bracket to. Lookin' good!
