More questions on G cylinder Head bolts. I found that I only had 2.25 inch bolts ( total of 16 + 4 STUDS) used on the 49 G I am working on. Based on thickness of the head in the center I would think the 6 center bolts should be 2.5 inches long. Parts manual says there should be four long bolts, but does not say how long. Can anyone confirm lenght of the long bolts? Is there a specification for these bolts? Potential for buying at NAPA? My Allis Chalmers G service manual says the head bolt torque is 55 ftlb. But the Continental manual that is mentioned in another thread says 35 - 40 ft lbs. Which is right? I think the 55 number is high for a 3/8 bolt! Does anyone have a good set of head bolts for a G they are willing to part with? Thanks Bob @ Allis Barn  |

AC manual torque may be dry. Continental manual said well oiled. Gerald J. |
