Sold a 3 point off one of my series 1 D 21's(Was not factory) and once I got it off, I noticed the left washer and bolt head were laying in the bottom of the tractor. The bolt is snapped off or slightly twisted off about 1 inch inside of it. The good news is that I caught it before it went into something. The bad news is that I did not plan on to fix it. Had all ready to go just a factory PTO to go in it.

Question is I know the right thing to do, is pull it all off and reseal it and pull out etc etc.  and fix it.

I was wondering is if I put a new shorter bolt in there and red loctite the thing and center punch it, would that be good enough ? I plan on keeping the tractor and dont do any farming with it. Has 1929 original hrs and the original 24.5x32 tires.

Looking for any advice and feedback.

Also what does the wheel weights weigh for the 32 inch rim ? There 23 inches across 230 lbs ?

Thanks in advanced, Darryl

Also, the existing broken bolt is sticking through the washer about 1/2 inch, yet the other bolt is inside about a inch. Missing about half inch somewhere and nothing else in bottom of rear end. WEIRD.

Thanks again, Darryl

Would it posible to fish it out through the top cover with A magnet? We had to do that on our 21 some years ago. maybe I'm not understanding --- is this bolts going in from the botom or bolts that hold thee back end on?

It is the about 1 inch fine thread bold with a 1/2 to 5/8 washer on the end of the axle that keeps it from walking in and out.

Thanks Darryl

Found one loose and one laying the bottom in my friend's D-21. Not sure what will cause this. Another friend had the boss that holds the PTO brake arm broken out of the main casting in his D-21. I hate when this happens !!

Had one fall out on dino at about 150 Hp. Twisted every shaft from PTO clutch to crankshaft when it fell between PTO clutch and side of housing. Stopped engine immedatly.
I would try screwing the broken part out. Should screw out easy. Not uncommon for one to screw out. Use loctite on new bolt.  MACK
