I checked the oil level at the square headed (3/4 inch or so) bolt under and behind the clutch lever. Oil level was about an inch or so from the top. Should it be at the very top, and I would assume 80w90 gear oil? Anyone ever run hy/tran in the rear end?
One more...how about capacity if I wanted to change it.

Rear end & Trans 17qts 80/90
Hyd 6 qts non-foam like AW-46
This is what my owners manual for the wd-wd45 said went to the local oil gas company and they converted it for me, there should be 3 drain plugs under the tractor to drain, just dont do what I did! Put the AW46 oil the trans, should have been hyd. I had a DUMM moment.

Thanks for the help, I can sure see how a fella could accidently fill the hyd. fill with gear oil or vice versa. I have an operators manual but it didnt say how full is full though. Did your owners manual mention the correct level? Im just wondering if I should fill till it comes out. I probably wont be changing for a while.

NO, sorry but I just put in what it called for and it looked about right, I could see the oil in the bottom of the fill hole just below the plug, and the hyd. oil was right at the full mark on the dip stick, I drained all mine as I'am rebuilding a WD that had set for some time didn't want no water in there but I opened up the hole rear end to check bearings and seals also. |
