I'm looking at at 1985 A-C 6070. Do any members have any experience with this model of A-C. I'm only use to WD's and D series and gas engines. This may be the last tractor purchase I make and want to make sure I get a good model. Any assistance positive or negative would be so much appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought a 6080 and really like it, 6070 85 model should have the updated crank and block, also engine preheat, there were issues with earlier models spinning rod bearings when starting cold, they added a external bearing/ support on Crankshaft as a fix , makes a nice loader/chore tractor for me anyway, i think you would like it!!

I have an 85 6080. Excellent tractor to drive. Handles very nice, easy on fuel, lots of power, good visibility. Given that you are currently using the D series, it probably will not get overworked. Should be able to last a long time.

Just have to ask what is the S.N.? How close to the end of the line is it?

Haven't captured the Serial number, however it is decaled A-C and not KDH so, it is pre-buy out.

it was a thrust bearing problem not a rod bearing problem

many of the 6060s/6080s have reached the 10000-11000 hour mark from what i have observed on the net, they are stingy on fuel.

i have a 82 model 6060 with 2900 hours, that is basically the same tractor with an 8 speed transmission and no intercoller rated at 63hp, and i love it!

the pto system is a fiat design that uses two seperate levers to power the pto, the pull up knob on the left of the seat engages the main pto drive, the long pto lever on the right is used for engaging and disengaging while working with a pto powered implement'

be sure to leave the long pto shifter by your right leg in the on posision when not in active pto use, and use the pto engagment lever on the left to disengage pto system when not using a pto powered implement.

leaving the knob engaged and the lever turned off puts a great deal of pressure on the clutch.

the 6080 had the same transmission as your 6070 and it used a larger clutch that created problems with the front thrust bearings on the 6080 series of tractors, resulting in some early enjine failures, the problem was not as evident in the 6060 tractors because of a smaller clutch, i do believe that Allis enjineers had these issues solved by the time they released the 6070 to replaced the 6060

the last tractor built by allis chalmers was a 1985 6070 sn 1972
