Those who might remember to when your D series was new, how much of the gas gauge face was painted?  My question is specifically about the trim ring holding the glass in place.  This tractor has had a paint brush re-paint in the past and there are spotty remains of paint on the trim ring.  Should it be painted and most of it has worn off or was that just over-painting from the brush?

Paint the trim ring, I dont remember any sliver showing thru when new.    The rest of the guages had all sliver trim ring showing thru.  HTH

Thanks for the info Skip.  When you say the rest of the gauges had the ring showing I am asuming you are talking about the 100 series?

Ah yes, I knew I was over thinking it and missing something obvious.  In any event I have the gas gauge all painted with a neoprene float installed.  Hopefully I won't need to pull the gauge again.
