Another great issue of OAN! I enjoyed to no end the article "40 Planes for Tractor Buyers".  This is a keeper!! Did I miss the reference to the year it occurred? By inference I deduced it must have happened in 1963. i.e. "Started making tractors in 1913" and a reference to a 50th anniversary.(?)

Something isn't right there, AC did not make a tractor until 1914.

I dont remember what year it was for sure, but I do remember hoping Dad would buy a new tractor so we could go to Milwaukee,  his older brother was the local dealer.  He had bought a new D19 earlier in the year.  Well no new tractor, no trip to Milwaukee, I probably wouldnt have been able to go anyway!!! I remeber the catchy tune playing on the radio a lot that fall  "Buy a tractor and take a trip"!!!!!

They started production of their version of the "rotary tiller" in 1913 according to Norms book. It sure looks like a tractor to me. It looked something like this.

   Charles, I disagree.
Norm's book says "Otto Falk sent chief consulting engineer J. F Max Patitz to Switzerland to investigate the Motoculture "Motor driven Rotary Plow" in 1913."

Walter Peterson's "An Industrial Heritage: Allis Chalmers Corporation" states on page 240: "On the last day of 1913 the Executive commitee authorized a contract calling for payment of $10,000 in cash and a royalty of 6 percent on all rotary plows sold in the United States." The Rotary Plow was tested during 1914 and early 1915 before Falk considered it "reasonably safe and advisable to offer them for sale to the general public".
