I checked today to see about getting some new blades for my AC 172 rotary mower.  Figured I would see about new bolts and bushings etc. too.  They wanted $45.00 for each bolt and $49.00 for each bushing and $54.00 for each blade.   I can live with the price for the blades but that makes me want to boycott Agco for life on the price of those bolts and bushings.  I've been hearing how high priced they have gotten but now I've experienced it.

We have a 172 mower also on our farm. I must come to Agcos defense at times. This mower is 50++ years old right??? Try finding parts for other machines that old. Ryan

It don't matter what brand you go to for parts. If it is old you better bring some vaseline. They are all guilty.

Problem is ,who want's all their money invested in parts that do not move .Go to a machine shop and have them make the hard to find parts for you .Bolt and bushing has to be of right hardness.,eighter way it cost money to do anything .Just call it sticker shock!!! or look at it as its cheaper then buying a new mower ..Price can leave one speachless !!!!!

Best way to get cheap parts is spend $2000+ for a new mower to do the same job... then bolts will only be $15-20 each for blades.  Sound Better?

Some things are high, but like some have said they are available. I have priced some things which I thought weren't too bad and others that were questioable, but I got what I needed. I have paid out the wazoo for some bolts, but they were odd sized or hardened. That made them worth it for me.

try "fastinal" for your bolts/bushings

We should also maybe think about their side, they are providing low volume parts for a lot of low volume tractors. After all tractors are not built in the millions or even hundreds of thousands like cars and trucks. And they too have costs and overhead etc.  That having been said i bought some allis B bearings by manufacturer part number at a Case iH dealer and they charged close to the manufacturers price even tho they  were in a caseih box. If we really look in to it a lot of the bearings, bushings, bolts etc are stock manufacturer sizes renumbered to each tractor companys number.

Do you have pictures of the blade bolts and bushings. I've found though work there are a lot of manufacters using the same bolts and can be found after market. But I've also had a few that I couldn't

Unfortunately, I have to agree.  AGCO is kind of like the "devil with the blue dress on".  The prices are high but the parts are available.  I remember walking into AC McCartney implement and needed a part for my "B" and it was pretty close to the show room floor.  It is kind of cool when you need a part for a 1940 model and it's in stock?!

Go through a simplicity dealer, thats where we get our stuff from, and its considerably cheaper.  i think the blades are under $20 a piece, closer to $15.

Try  Agri Supply in Mirco N C  . They might help you . Call and talk with them as they have a lot that is not in cat.  I got bush hog blades from them.  They advertise 168000 lawn  mower blades in stock .  1-800-345-0169

I went to the local CIH dealer for a push pull ignition switch for an M. $25 for a switch that bore no resemblence to the orginal and could have been bought at NAPA for less than 1/2 the price. I decided to take it back and get an after market reproduction for a few dollars more.

I needed a distributer cap for a Massey Harris 44 and it was cheaper from AGCO than anyplace else, for that matter at least I could get one, most places I tried couldn't find one.

I go to the same dealer that my Dad bought tractors from 40+ years ago and still buy parts for my AC's from them today. AGCO is my friend as long as they keep supplying me parts.

You can get parts and you complain?
I had to replace an alternator in my car $400.00 no labor.
In 1995 we bought two new cars for $18,000, now the same size car is $29,000 each.
I don't like paying high prices but some times you just do.
Try to get a bolt and bushing from McMaster Carr.
