My favorite AC 175 Diesel has black oil leaking out of the manifold.  Looks like some is running down from muffler joint too.  BEFORE I get to take off the manifold for a look, WHAT are some repair possibilites I'm looking at....best and worst ideas?

Tractor cranks, seems to run good, not smoking noticeably more?.., has about 3700 hrs?
I was hoping for 'valve gasket leak' but it looks like only coming thru manifold.

Wish it could be a head gasket, but that's not a symptom, is it?
Does it sound like a bad Piston?  if so...why?

Any advice / ideas greatly appreciated!

*Lately, I noticed it was taking a little oil to top it off (on dipstick).  I was cutting, raking, and baling just a few round bales ( I know it's Jan, & my Dad would have had a fit....ha!...but missed my fall cutting...besides, hay was short and too dry..if you can believe that!!!)

Could be a bad injector or not being worked hard enough to burn oil or fuel that got in manifold.  Put it on a good load and see if it clears up.   MACK

thanx fellows!  I had planned to pull the manifold and run it to see what's happening?

What's procedure for checking the injectors?    ...to find the bad one,
or remove all 4 and have them each tested?

thanx for any advice.....again!

best to remove the injectors and put them on the test stand and have them run...
