im having trouble raising the 10"x71'swing hopper auger to its full height when i change bins. when we do have this problem there is always another tractor near by so we pull the hose and use the other tractor to raise it higher. now i know if it was just low in oil it would only happen once then i would be ok because by using the other tractor im getting the job done plus transfering oil. how? well the oil goes into the auger clylinder to go up  but when i lower it next time to move the oil then goes into the d17. therefore it transfer. there is a small leak or drip on the hydrualic pump that there would be alittle puddle  if used all day. big question is is the pump getting tried and worn out or is it something inside like a relief valve? sorry for the lenght of post
many thanks for advice

Could the hydraulic fluid be leaking through a seal into the gearcase? If it is low for that reason you will find the gearcase has more fluid on its dipstick. If adding oil fixes the problem I would rule out a tired pump. Hard to tell from your post if low hydraulic fluid is the problem. I am far from an expert but there are those "experts" lurking here and some will chime in I'm sure.   Dave

It's easy to check pressures for a remote.  Go buy a 5000 psi hydraulic gauge, pipe adapters and a Pioneer (or whatever remote fitting you use) plug and hook it up to the remote outlet and see how much pressure you get.   Probably about 30-40 bucks in parts and you can use it to check other tractors by swapping the plug end for the coupler.

Should be about 2200 psi if it's up to snuff.  If it's low, it might be the relief valve is set low, that can be adjusted if you have the manual.   If that doesn't do it might still be a worn out relief valve or it might be the pump getting old like you suggest.  Maybe Dr. Allis will drop in and comment more.  Mike
